13 Easy Ways To Increase Your Instagram Engagement
Today we are gonna discuss about how to increase Instagram Engagement via this blog post.
Basically, engagement means getting likes, comments, tags and shares on your post.
Without further ado let’s jump right into it.
List Of 13 Ways To Increase Your Instagram Engagement Organically:
Let us have a glance one by one about what are those 13 ways in this section. This will helps you definitely to increase your Instagram engagement whenever you publish a post.
1) Write Captivating Caption
Tip number one to increase Instagram engagement is captivating captions as well as asking a question within those captions.
So now you have your photo, you also have to write a caption and don’t waste this opportunity by just putting like emojis.
PS: anytime someone just puts emojis with their photo I’m always like a wasted opportunity, this is your chance to share a story. Share something emotional, asks questions to spark a conversation.
Instagram is a social app, it’s meant for sharing photos as well as sharing experiences. So take this opportunity to write a good caption that will actually get people to want to comment and tag their friends and like and engages with it.
This is what the whole app is about, so make sure you’re spending time writing a good caption
That’s what will get you more comments
2) Funnel Instagram Users from your Stories to your Main post or page
You guys are probably familiar with Instagram stories and this is a great opportunity, that if you post a photo to Instagram use the audience that’s checking out your Instagram stories to direct them to your Instagram posts.
This is kind of like a no-brainer, every time you post a new photo, go to your main bio page.
Hold down on the latest picture and screenshot it right away and then that’s a photo that you can upload to Instagram stories and use to funnel those people to your Instagram post.
From there a few other little tips that you guys can do is either make the photo black and white and be like click on the main page and go check out my bio if you guys want to see the color version of it or grab one of the emojis a little like penguin faces or the little like heart faces that Instagram allows you to use on Instagram stories.
Put that over someone’s face in there and cover some sort of spot on the actual image itself and then people will be like more compelled to go check out the image which in turn increase Instagram engagement.
These are little incentives that when people see, this they’re more likely to go from Instagram stories to your Instagram posts and actually go and comment it at that point.
3) Use Instagram Live Option
All right the next tip is to do an Instagram live to increase Instagram engagement.
Now the cool thing about Instagram is it will prompt your fan base or your audience that you’re doing an Instagram live.
So post your photo and then jump right on to live, this is your chance to share a behind-the-scenes or the emotional response to that photo.
So that people are more likely to engage with that piece of content because they know the story behind it. so try out Instagram live.
4) Do Giveaways
Alright, tip number four to increase Instagram engagement is to have some sort of incentive or contest. Obviously, you don’t have to be giving away iPhone X’s to get a lot of comments, you can start with something small.
If you are a photographer you can use your digital Lightroom presets that you often post on your Instagram story or a shoutout.
You can even do an ebook guide to something according to your niche.
The caption being like whoever comments on my latest Instagram post has a chance to win some Lightroom presets.
There are different incentives for different audiences, so whatever incentive works for your audience.
Try that and see how it goes.
5) Engage Back to your Followers
So for the next tip to increase instagram engagement, this is something I truly believe in, it’s replying back to every single comment obviously within a reasonable amount of time.
Now number one this will double your comments if you get 200 comments from friends and family and fans you’re gonna have 400 comments in total cause you responded back to every single one.
Number two this will increases your chance with the algorithm so if you respond back to every comment, the algorithm is gonna be like oh this is a popular post and they are gonna push your post and you’re more likely to have your post seen.
And the third thing and this is just more of like a tip, actually, respond back with a genuine comment if someone wrote a comment on your page actually respond back with some genuine words rather than just four words comment and been repeated in the past.
So you can’t just keep saying “thank you for commenting” thank you for commenting” ” I appreciate it”
Actually write back a genuine comment if somebody writes something meaningful, write something meaningful back.
They took the time to write on yours, so share the love
6) Use Relevant Hashtag
Number six to increase Instagram engagement is to have relevant hashtags, now the whole idea of hashtags is that it groups photos together.
So click on those hashtags in the groups of photos that you want to be a part of and go and comment on other ones and this will increase your chances of finding other creators and if you go and comment on a photo that’s similar, they’re more likely to comment back.
So if you want to get more comments go and comment on similar content cuz you’re gonna like most likely receive that in return.
For example let’s say somebody had a photo in person and you were like hey that’s a great photo well they’re probably gonna respond back saying hey that’s a great photo, it’s the same thing on Instagram so treat it like an actual human interaction and you’re more likely to get more comments.
7) Posting at the right time
Number seven to increase Instagram engagement is posting at the right time.
No one’s gonna comment if they’re not actually on the app so look at your analytics or at least just like posts at a regular time and find out whatever time is best when your audience is actually using the app.
I would recommend you to use Instagram Insights If you haven’t it’s very easy to set up. Just simply upgrade your account to an Instagram business profile.
Next, Go to your analytics tab and select the ‘Audience’, and you’ll be shown the data of your users, your user demographics, see where most of your audience is based, country, time, etc
This will really help you to get to know when roughly (not 100% accurate) you should be posting: for example, if most of your engaged audience is in the UK, then you’re going to want to post when they’re awake and are likely to engage with it.
Scroll down further your analytics tab, and it will show you the data where your audience is most active on Instagram by both hours and days.
Next, if you haven’t exactly found your sweet spot, try posting on random times just to test it out to figure out what works best for you. Keep track of your engagement rate for each post and see how it performs, alongside the hours, time and day of posting, in your excel or spreadsheet. Over time, you should start seeing patterns of your most engaged time and audience.
The thing is that the more you post and try to figure out your time slot and audience, the more it will become clearer for you such as posting habits, time spots, days hours and data of your user demographics age, gender, etc. So that you can create contents more specifically inclined to your audience.
So post at the right time and schedule them if you are gonna be busy. There are tons of apps out there.
8) Post Right Photos
Tip number eight to increase Instagram engagement is actually picking the right photos to post, the ones that will get the most amount of likes and comments on the ones that will spark a conversation.
Now if you’re anything like me you take a ton of photos and then you pick to edit and then you just start bugging everybody which photo should I post anything related to that.
So, I found this app it’s called cinnac and essentially they will solve all of your problems for figuring out which photo you should post to your Instagram from certain photo shoots and essentially what it allows you to do is upload up to 20 photos to a set and then what It will do is the people who are on the app can click on your set of photos.
It will start randomly presenting photos to you from that set and you can just pick your favorites by swiping along them and essentially the app will tell you this photo was the most liked photo and you’ll find out probably which photo is gonna perform the best on Instagram
9) Use solid and strong colors
You already know that Instagram is a very visual platform and you have to stand out. So Your first priority is to make sure that you are not blending with the others but actually stand out from the crowd.
Chances are your followers aren’t following only you but others too. Maybe a hundred or even thousands. So their feed and homepage are gonna be flooded and if you can’t get their attention, they will just scroll you right past.
To avoid that the best way to do is to grab the user attention. So, use strong colors but not too contrast that it will look like a horror edit. Stand out from the clutter.
According to a study conducted by the Curalate, images which have a blue dominating seems to do better and get about more 24 percent likes than any other color. Ofcourse this leads to increase in Instagram engagement.
10) Make sure to include your Face
Post which shows a face is more likely to grab attention and get more engagement rather than a sideways shot or a background shot.
It’s like meeting someone for the first time, and you are trying to bond with them to make connections. Its the same process going on here.
By showing your face on Instagram it will get increase Instagram engagement by getting more social connections, likes, comments, and even shares.
11) Cross-promote each other and platforms
You can do cross-promote each other with followings of your size if you can get bigger pages that are even better.
You post a picture of their page or brand and they do the same on their page so that both of you get more exposure to each other users.
That way you can get more followers and engagement too.
Also in another case scenario, you are popular in facebook but not that much in Instagram, then you can promote a page or a person who is popular on Instagram on your facebook page while he does the same on your account.
12) Number of Captions
There was a time when putting 20-30 hashtag on your Instagram post will lead to more exposure/more Instagram engagement. But that train has long gone. Rather than putting 30-40 hashtag, choose only 3-5 hashtag which fits your post and posts it.
That way it will make your post look less spammy and Instagram pushes those type of content more to your specific audience.
13) Use Hashtag in Captions
Rather than using the hashtag on the caption, you also put the hashtag on your comments. But turns out the hashtag on the comments really don’t count.
Instead, use around just 3 to 5 meaningful hashtag on your caption rather than your comments to boost your Instagram engagement.
